Soil Health Campaign and Distribution of Agro Inputs under the Scheduled Tribe Component (STC) for Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers in Thane district of Maharashtra.
ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa organized a Soil Health Campaign and Distribution of Agro Inputs under the Scheduled Tribe Component (STC) for Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers in Maharashtra. The programme was conducted in Shahpur village of Thane district on 4th July 2025. During the campaign, ST farmers were sensitized on the importance of soil health management and the adoption of improved agricultural practices. As part of the initiative, Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM), Goa Bio-1 (biofertilizer), and Vegetable Seed Kits were distributed to the beneficiaries. A total of 25 ST farmers benefited from the programme. The Sarpanch of the village and the District Agriculture Officer, Thane were present during the event and appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CCARI, Goa. The initiative aimed to improve crop productivity, promote organic farming practices, and enhance livelihood security among ST farming communities, reflecting ICAR-CCARI Goa’s continued commitment to inclusive agricultural development through its outreach activities under STC. The programme was also covered by a local Marathi newspaper, helping to raise awareness and highlight the impact of the initiative.
