Training on ‘Nutri-Hormonal Therapy for Treatment of Repeat Breeding in Dairy Cattle’ at Ibrampur

 

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized a training program on “Assessment of the efficacy of Nutri-hormonal therapy in improving conception and pregnancy rates in repeat breeding crossbred dairy animals” on 22nd July 2025 at Ibrampur village, Pernem taluka.

 The objective of the training was to address the issue of repeat breeding in crossbred dairy cattle through demonstration and promotion of Nutri-Hormonal therapy, aiming to enhance conception rates and reduce economic losses.

Dr. Udharwar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, SMS (Animal Science), explained the causes of repeat breeding and highlighted the importance of bypass fat supplementation and progesterone hormone therapy in improving fertility. He guided farmers on identifying repeat breeders, understanding body condition score, hormonal imbalance, nutritional correction, and the importance of timely artificial insemination.

Mr. Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), delivered a lecture on "Agronomic practices for hybrid Napier fodder", while Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, ATO (Soil Science), spoke on the "Use of cow dung and urine in Jeevamrut preparation".

The program was attended by 15 progressive dairy farmers (12 men and 3 women). As part of the field visit, Dr. Udharwar S.V. conducted pregnancy diagnosis in six crossbred cows across three dairy farms. The program was successfully coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
