ICAR CCARI and KVK North Goa organised Input Distribution cum Capacity Building Program for Groundnut in Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLDs)

            ICAR-CCARI, Goa and ICAR-KVK, North Goa, conducted an Input Distribution and Capacity Building Programme on Groundnut on 15 July 2025, at the KVK premises, primarily aimed at demonstrating improved technologies to the agricultural community to increase the production and productivity of oilseed crops. Dr. Shirish D. Narnaware, Director-in-Charge of ICAR-CCARI, Goa, emphasized the significance of adopting advanced technologies in oilseed production and commended the initiatives of the KVK in enhancing oilseed cultivation in the region. Groundnut (var. Dh 256) pods were distributed to twenty-five farmers as part of the Cluster Frontline Demonstrations (CFLDs) on oilseeds. Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK, CCARI, North Goa, briefed the objective of the National Food Security Mission, which aims to enhance the availability of vegetable oils and reduce the import of edible oils by boosting the production and productivity of oilseeds in the nation. Furthermore, he elucidates the advanced package of practices for groundnut production. Shri Rahul Kumar, SMS (Agronomy), addressed the integrated management of major pests and diseases affecting groundnut, which entails a combination of cultural, biological, and chemical methods to reduce the incidence of these major threats. Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, SMS (Animal Science), emphasised the nutritional advantages of groundnut haulm, specifically as a feed for ruminant livestock, a source of crude protein, and a cost-effective alternative to traditional feed management in livestock. Shri Rahul M. Kulkarni, ACTO (Agronomy), demonstrated on preparing organic formulations to enhance soil fertility and promote sustainable agriculture. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjaykumar, U.V., SMS (Animal Science). The programme was coordinated by Shri Rahul Kumar, Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar, Dr. Nivya K. R., Shri Rahul Kulkarni, Shri Vishwajeet Prajapati, and Shri Aishwar Kumar Tiwari.
