Awareness programme organized for farmers under SCSP at Byndoor, Karnataka
A field visit and awareness programme was conducted on 1st June 2025 at Byndoor village in the coastal district of Udupi, Karnataka. The event was attended by 15 Scheduled Caste farmers, including 12 women, who are currently engaged in cashew processing and poultry farming. Dr. Sreekanth GB, Senior Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management), ICAR-CCARI, interacted with the participants and briefed them on the institute’s ongoing research and development initiatives in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of farmers. He also highlighted various government schemes available to support farmers in improving productivity and farm income. The farmers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the institute for its outreach and knowledge-sharing efforts and assured their full cooperation in future research and development programmes. They also requested input support from the institute for adopting scientific practices in backyard poultry farming and kitchen gardening. The programme was also graced by the presence of Shri Ananda Angadi, Managing Director of Matsya Sanjeevini FFPO, and Shri Ravi Kharvi, recipient of the National Marine Fish Farmer Award from Kundapura.
