Awareness and distribution programme under SCSP at Bandora village, Goa
ICAR-CCARI, Goa, in collaboration with the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC), Bandora, Goa, organized an awareness-cum-distribution programme for women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) on 13 June 2025. The programme aimed to promote SHG activities and explore new initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors. A total of 12 SHG members participated in the event. Adv. Surel Tilve, Chairman of the Bandora BMC, interacted with the participants and emphasized the significance of conserving and utilizing agro-biodiversity through innovative ventures. During the interaction, the members expressed interest in establishing a disposable plate and cup-making unit using arecanut leaves and residues. Dr. Sreekanth G.B., Senior Scientist (FRM), appreciated their entrepreneurial idea and assured full scientific and technical support from the institute. He also encouraged the group to consider incorporating value-added products made from coconut leaves and residues to further strengthen the proposed unit. As part of the programme, coconut and arecanut saplings, along with vermicompost, were distributed to the SHG members. The participants acknowledged and appreciated ICAR-CCARI’s continued support to farmers and stakeholders and assured their wholehearted cooperation in the institute’s future initiatives. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sreekanth G.B., Senior Scientist, and Shri Ravi Kadam, Skilled Supporting Staff, ICAR-CCARI.
