Distribution programme under SCSP at Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu

    The ICAR-CCARI, Goa in association with the Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR- CMFRI, Tamil Nadu organized an input distribution programme under the SCSP at Vedalai village, Ramanathapuram coastal district of Tamil Nadu on 23rd June 2025. A total of 46 farmers belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, including 30 women participated in the programme. Shri. Jayasingh, Senior Technician, Mandapam Regional Centre of ICAR-CMFRI welcomed the scientists and farmers and provided an overview of the village and farmer’s profile. Dr. Anikuttan KK, Senior Scientist (Aquaculture), ICAR-CMFRI, Mandapam Regional Centre explained the farmers about the technologies available with ICAR-CMFRI for the promotion of mariculture such as cage culture, marine ornamental fish culture and seaweed farming. Dr Vinod K, Head, ICAR-CMFRI Mandapam, highlighted the activities of ICAR-CCARI and ICAR-CMFRI to diversify and strengthen agriculture and allied activities for food, nutrition and employment security. The farmers expressed their kind gratitude and assured their whole hearted co-operation in the research and development activities. Since the farmers had requested the inputs for vegetable cultivation, seeds of Amaranthus were distributed to the farmers to promote kitchen gardening. The programme was coordinated by Dr Sreekanth GB from CCARI, Goa, and Dr Vinod, K., Dr Anikuttan, K.K. & Shri. Jayasingh from ICAR-CMFRI, Mandapam.
